Team Selection Process

How teams are selected:

All coaches are present at the tryout and evaluate all players.
ALL PLAYERS ARE PLACED ON A TEAM.
The coaches, league player agent, and league president are present in the "draft".
Coaches will pick players one-by-one based on their individual evaluations.
Coaches with their own children will use their #1, #2, or #3 pick for their child on their own team.  It is their choice which one.
We try to honor parent requests to play for a certain coach or for their child to play with another child, but it is not guaranteed.

Players who fail to show up at the tryout:
Any 6 year old who fails to show up at the tryout MAY be drafted onto a T-Ball team.
Any 8 year old who fails to show up at the tryout MAY be drafted onto a Coach Pitch Team.
Any 9-11 year old who fails to show up at the tryout MAY be drafted onto a Minor team.
ALL 12 year old players will be drafted onto a Major team unless there is a safety issue AND signed waiver.

"Playing Up" & "Playing Down"

We know that all children come in different sizes and talent levels.  This is a "gray area" where the player SHOULD be playing with his or her talent level RATHER THAN their actual age group sometimes.

For example, the following lists the particular ages where a player may play UP:
A 6 year old who has already played one year of T-Ball may be drafted in Coach Pitch unless noted by parents to stay down.
An 8 year old who has already played one year of Machine Pitch/coach pitch may be drafted in Minors.
A 9 or 10 year old who has already played one year of Minors may be drafted into Majors.

For example, the following lists the particular ages where a player may play DOWN:
A 6  year old who has never played T-Ball before may stay in T-Ball.
A 7 year old who may be a safety issue in Coach Pitch may stay in T-Ball.
A 9 year old who has never played Coach Pitch before may stay in Coach Pitch.
An 11 year old who has never played Majors before may stay in Minors.

If you have specific questions about where your child should play and best enjoy his or her baseball season, please question one of the coaches at the tryout.
